About Patrick Knoch…
Patrick Knoch studies plastic arts at the College of Fine Arts in Berlin, is architect in Switzerland and finally designer in France.
His training at the Polytechnic School of Zurich might explain his rationalist and typological approach. As a designer he combines this rigorous approach with a freedom of tone that mirrors his independence. He associates various influences and styles and creates pieces that are both strong and light-hearted.
His first items are produced in Germany and Italy. But it is in France, in the city of Bordeaux, that he creates the company Extranorm.
Since 2016 he conceives simultaneously objects of different categories, jumping from sofa to carafe, from table to teacup. This constant changing of scales and categories allow him to take a fresh look, to multiply the points of view and to maintain the early momentum.
